Marine Corps Reserve to hold Toys for Tots event

The Marine Corps Reserve will keep in tradition and provide toys for families in need from Thanksgiving until December.

“We rely on donations from citizens and businesses to make this happen.  Every dollar collected turns into $3  due to the generosity of toy companies who give deep discounts to the program,” said Jerry Prsall.

The Marine Corps League of Terrell is responsible for the collection and distribution of toys for Terrell, Quinlan, Kaufman, and all rural areas, including Van Zandt County.

“This year we are expanding to Wills Point trying to help meet the needs of as many families as we can.  At 6 p.m. Thursday Nov. 17 applications will be taken at Wills Point First Baptist Church for any family in need of help this Christmas.  There is no minimum income requirement.  We know that there are many families who may have had one parent lose their job or get hours cut.  We are here to help fill that need.  The Toys for Tots program is for kids 0-12 years of age.  Parents just need to fill out the application where they will receive a card with a pick up number, location, date and time.  Every child on the list will be guaranteed to receive one large and one smaller toy with stocking stuffers,” said Persall.

Donation boxes will be at the following businesses the week of Thanksgiving accepting new unwrapped toys: Ramsey's Roadhouse 505 N Fourth St..; Computer Image 114 N Fourth St.; Fairway Shows  246 Fourth St.; and  Adele's Clothing,  215 N. Fourth St.
