Yarbrough announces candidacy for Mayor

Yogi Yarbrough

“I decided to apply for the position of mayor because:

  • I have the experience to help the city run more efficiently.  In the past forty years, our population has doubled, but operating expenses have grown from fifty thousand to over one million dollars per month. When I was on city council, I attended several Texas Municipal League training seminars  on municipal legal issues, water supply and distribution, and city council procedures. Due to my strong interest in future water needs, I was appointed to the Water Resource Committee and the Legislative Development Committee.
  • I will make city government totally transparent. One hundred thousand dollar projects such as the Saline Creek water rights survey, will not be divided into multiple parts, so they don’t have to be discussed at council meetings. Citizens have the right to know what’s being done with their tax dollars.
