Everett to run for consecutive term

Lou Ann Everett

I have served as mayor of Canton for the past 2 years and it has been an exciting and progressive time!  I am blessed with a good council and together we have worked to get the city “caught up” on delayed projects such as the new City Hall, a make-over for the historic water tower, and the hiring of an assistant city manager that has been in the budget for several years.

New projects included a new police department building, the parks have been upgraded and two walking trails are complete and both were paid partially with grants.

Our police and fire departments will soon have a new communications system—something sorely needed because our officers had no radio contact in areas of the city.  First Monday received a pavilion extension with new restrooms and food court.  A new major road project is slated to begin very soon, and all of these projects will not cause any raise in the tax rate.
