The City of Canton called a revenue bond election of $180,000 Tuesday night at a meeting at the City Hall calling for improvement of the waterworks and sewer system. The city called the election for May 9 and announced that $140,000 would be spent on extending city sewer and water lines on the west side of Canton.

Several outlying areas are expected to petition council for entrance into the city to swell the population to approximately 1,500 people.

$40,000 of the money, if approved by city voters is only a paper manipulation of old 1948 bonds. Only $140,000 in new money will be available for expenditure water and sewer improvements should the election carry.
