James Cobern
1927-2017

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, May 6, 2017, at Edgewood Church of Christ with Ken Maddox and Larry DeLong officiating.  Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., prior to the service.
Family and friends called him Dad, Papaw, and Buddy, but the Lord called him home Tuesday, April 25, 2017. He loved his God, family, church and helping people.  He enjoyed farming, music, hunting and fishing.  He fulfilled most of his earthly dreams with his beautiful wife of 68 years, Evelyn, on their farm in Canton.  
He was preceded in death by his parents, August and Marie Cobern as well as two brothers, Don Cobern and Bobby Cobern, and sister, Azilee Frasier.  
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Cobern of Canton; three children, Kay Shutter of Canton, Jimmy and Connie Cobern of Kemp, and Ken and Tanna Cobern of Canton; two brothers, Carroll and Ann Cobern of Garland and Jerry and Mickey Cobern of Allen; eight grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.  
The Cobern family wishes to send their thanks to the staffs of Baylor Hospital, Canton Oaks Nursing Home and especially to Hospice Homeplace of East Texas for their wonderful care of our loved one.
