Services for Jarvis Eugene (PeeWee) Pickens, 63, of Canton are scheduled for 1 P.M. Saturday, May 20, 2017, at the New Hope Baptist Church in Canton. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery in Canton.
Mr. Pickens passed away Friday, May 12, 2017, in Tyler.
He was born Jan. 6, 1954, in Canton to Jarvis Lee and Nettie LaVesta Potts Pickens.
He was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church. He grew up in Canton where he attended the Wynne and Canton Schools. He worked at Mr. Peel’s Mobil Station, at his father’s tire shop and for Henry Lewis. He was a funny man. He loved the Lord and enjoyed singing and testifying. He loved his sisters and brothers.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Jarvis and Nettie Pickens, and a sister, LaVesta Pickens.
Survivors include his brothers, Charles and Ruth Pickens of Athens, Eddie and Tam Pickens, Barry Pickens, Eric and Megan Pickens; sisters, Janice Cross, Carol Pickens Iverson, Rita and Harold Jackson, all of Canton; Sharon Pickens of Dallas, Loresa and Malcolm Johnson of Lancaster; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Pallbearers are Bobby Mason, Eddie Pickens Jr., Bradley Pickens, Leonard Morris, Brent Pickens, Jordan Jackson, Charles Pickens Jr., Barry Pickens Jr., Chris Pickens and Tristan Lowrie.
Honorary pallbearers are Reggie Coffman, Ronnie Wilson, Jerry Shamlin Jr., Robert Smith, Paul Pickens, Icky Pickens, Keston Wood and Dennis Estell.
