Archie F. Gandy

1928-2017

Memorial services for Archie F. Gandy, 88, Seagoville, were held Tuesday, May 30, 2017, at Eubank Funeral Home in Canton with Bro. Benny Craft and Bro. Troy Watson officiating. Interment followed at Payne Springs Cemetery. Mr. Gandy passed away May 25, 2017.

He was born Sept. 4, 1928, in Payne Springs to Felton and Ruby Gandy of Eustace. He married Alice Charlton in Brenham Sept. 19, 1981.

He was a truck driver for 54 years and covered 48 states. He owned Archie’s Sand & Gravel until 2002.

He was Baptist by faith and was ordained as an evangelist May, 17, 1998, at Bethel Baptist Church in Seagoville. He was very active in church until his health declined.

His is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Alice Gandy; and sister, Charlene Gandy.

Survivors include his sons, Archie Wayne and Cecelia Gandy of Canton, Jimmie Dale and Helen Gandy of Kileen, Charles Edward and Dillie Gandy of Forney; daughters, Brenda Jo Franklin, Reva Sue and John Hancock, Donita and Houston Morris, and Alice Jean and Charlie Dozeman; stepson, Tyrone and Betty Numm; stepdaughters, Claudia Reese and Jennifer Charlton; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; brother, Charley Gandy; sister, Eve Sue; uncle, J.W. Boyde of Corona, Calif.; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
