Funds to be rolled out for tornado victims

The Van Zandt County Long Term Recovery Group met twice the past week. Once was a for a workshop on June 15t in which the language of the bylaws was ironed out and the other was for a normal weekly meeting.

According to VZC LTRG members, bylaws have been completed and accepted.

“This process allows money to start to flow to applicants once the applicants have been approved by caseworkers. The caseworkers can take several weeks before they make a recommendation to the Recovery Group,” said Shawn Stewart, VZC LTRG member.

Stewart continued, stating “Applicants should not expect to receive any funds at the time they are first interviewed. This process is designed so that as many of the affected people who need financial assistance get the funding needed for their unmet needs. In order to achieve this goal, enough time has to be allowed for as many people as possible to get into the caseworkers before any funds are recommended to be dispersed.”
