C. A. Norrell 1924-2018
Services for Cephas Adair (C.A.) Norrell were held Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2018 at Hilliard Funeral Home
with Pastor Shane Ogdie officiating and Bro. Wayne Bare assisting.
He will be laid to rest in Union Chapel Cemetery, Smith County. A memorial service will be held March 15, 2018 at Woodland Hills Baptist Church in Tyler.
He was born Sept. 6, 1924 in West Texas, where he was born and raised. He had been a resident of Ben Wheeler for 25 years, formerly living in Indiana and Illinois.
He was a member of Woodland Baptist Church for many years and has led many people to the Lord over the years.
He attended Decatur Bible College and served in the U.S. Army. Over the years, he worked as a farmer, gardener and was a huge Bible reader.
He pastored a church in Indiana and was a deacon for more than 30 years in Indiana. He drove the church bus on the south side of Chicago, pursued a healthy life style and was known as a regular carrot juice drinker.
Over the ears, he also was a security guard for Inland Steel and for Ford Motor Co. in Illinois. He also worked as a plant supervisor for 17 years for University of Chicago Hospital, Billings Hospital and Children's Hospital in Illinois.
He passed away at the age of 93 on Jan. 24, 2018 in Tyler. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Norrell; and four brothers, Weldon, G.L., Kelsey, and Jesse.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Neva Norrell of Ben Wheeler; four children, Daniel Norrell and wife, Teresa of Carrollton, Samuel Joe Norrell of Ben Wheeler, Melloldy Kunch and husband, Mike, of Arizona, and Sharon Warren and husband, Tim, of Georgia; sister, Leota Riley of Van; grandchildren, Branden Norrell, Matthew Norrell, Melinda Lillis, Rachel Riaza, Michael Aaron Kunch, Alexander Feskanin, Mallory Warren, Nicholas Warren and Noah Warren and four great-grandchildren, Elisabeth Riaza, Harrison Riaza, William Riaza and Hudson Lillis.
