Clarence Doty, Jr. 1919-2018

 

 

Services for Clarence Henry "C.H." Doty, Jr., 98, of Canton were held Saturday, Feb. 10, 2018, at St. Therese Catholic Church with Father Selvaraj Sinnappan officiating, under the direction of Eubank Funeral Home. Entombment was in Haven of Memories.

He passed away Feb. 7, 2018 in Canton. He was born Aug. 23, 1919 in Patterson, La. to Clarence Henry Doty, Sr. and Jessie Bazilie Knight Doty.

He grew up in Patterson, La. He met his future wife, Billie, at Fort Bragg while serving in the US Army during World War II. He was a gentleman's gentleman. His life revolved around his family.

He enjoyed gardening and was an avid LSU fan. He became a member of St. Therese Catholic Church after moving to Canton in 1984.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Jessie Doty; wife of 61 years, Billie; a brother; and three sisters.

He is survived by his daughter, Charlene Silva of Canton; daughter and her husband, Maureen Doty and Marty Weaver of Canton; son and his wife, David Knight Doty and Malena Doty of Ft. Worth; six grandchildren, Tara and Scott Huddle, Kim Craig, Scott and Mendy Harrell, Todd and Christine Harrell, Olivia and Alex Hoeppner and Army Specialist Nicholas Doty; 13 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Spc. Nicholas Doty, Jonathan Huddle, Ryan Huddle, Justin Harrell, Travis Harrell, Clay Harrell, and Spencer Craig.

Honorary pallbearers were Dr. John Turner and Duane Musgrave. Honor Guard provided by the Knights of Columbus.
