Anna Tarpley 1928-2018

Services for Anna J. Tarpley, 89, of Wills Point were held Tuesday Feb. 13, 2018 at Eubank Funeral Home with Bro. Mike Roberson officiating. She was laid to rest by her husband in Randolph.

She passed away peacefully from this earth to her heavenly home on Feb 10, 2018 at Baylor Medical Center. She was born Feb. 26, 1928 in Bells to D.T. and Leta Morgan McElligott.

She married the love of her life, Wilson H. Tarpley, on July 23, 1955 in Bells. They shared 42 wonderful years together before his passing in 1997.

She is also preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Dan McElligott and Jimmy McElligott; and sister, Lois Everheart.

She is survived by her son, Jeff Tarpley, and wife, Susanna, of Frisco; daughter, Jan Tarpley of Houston; grandchildren, Will and Kate of Frisco; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of special friends.

She retired after 30 years of teaching in May 1986, her last teaching assignment being in Wills Point. Having taught first grade most of her career, she loved teaching small children. Her goal was always to make each child feel important and a success at anything they chose.

She was an active member of retired teachers and First Baptist Church of Canton until her health would not allow it.

She was a graduate of Bells High School. She received her teaching degree from North Texas State University and her Master’s Degree from East Texas University.
