Christmas at the Blackwell House event set
The annual community Christmas Open House hosted by the Canton Museum Executive Board is scheduled at the Blackwell House Museum from 3 to 6 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 6.
Located on First Monday Lane adjacent to the Van Zandt County Library, the house has the historical distinction of being the oldest home in VZ County.
“You are invited to come and experience the nostalgia of Christmas in an era past. As you tour the house, walking over original wooden floors, appreciating two 19th fireplaces and period furniture throughout. You will see what a treasure this house is to the City of Canton. Many photographs and personal items belonging to the Blackwell family whose members resided in the home until 1979 are on display,” said organizers of the event.
The Blackwell House is part of the Canton Museum system that also includes the Plaza Museum in the Plaza Theater in downtown Canton where many other unique and interesting collections and local artifacts are on display.
