Janice Livas

Janice Livas of Canton passed away unexpectedly on Dec. 29, 2018, in Tyler.  She was preceded in death by her father, John C. Ranne.

She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Raul Livas, and their only son, 16-year-old Alex Livas.  She is also survived by a large extended family which includes her mother, Myrna Ranne; brothers, Jerry Ranne and Kyle Ranne; sisters, JoAnne Kinney and Linda Wimberly; as well as numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

She worked from home as a beautician for many years.  Her clients were not just her customers, they were her friends.

She enjoyed all types of crafts including oil painting and ceramics.  She was skilled at beautifying things as well as people.

She also was a fantastic cook. She loved socializing and could be seen playing Canasta or Mexican Train at the Senior Center almost every Tuesday.

Nothing brought more joy to her life than her son, Alex.  She was filled with joy and pride while watching him play with the Mighty Canton Band at the 4A Marching Competition where they won first place.  She enjoyed being a Band Booster and working with the Pit Crew.

A memorial service will be held at Crossroads Church, located at 1930 S. Trades Day Blvd. in Canton at 2 p.m. on Jan. 12.

The family has asked that donations be made to Alex Livas fund at Woodforest National Bank in lieu of flowers. Donations will help send Alex to college when he graduates in 2020.
