Gooden takes oath of office
Congressman Lance Gooden took the official Oath of Office on Thursday to join the 116th Congress along with 100 other newly elected representatives. Congress immediately took up votes to fund the government, with dispute over funding for a border wall at the center of the debate.
Regarding funding for a border wall, Congressman Gooden stated, “I campaigned for over a year and my constituents all say they want meaningful border security. They are prepared to stand with me as long as it takes to stand with the president. I cast my first vote in Congress to follow through on that promise.”
Congressman Gooden looks forward to representing Texas’ 5th District in the 116th Congress and keeping the rest of the promises he made.
