William Scarborough 1946-2019

 

William Clark Scarborough, 72, passed away Sunday, Jan. 6, 2019, at his home. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m. on Jan. 26, 2019, at Cheatham Memorial United Methodist Church in Edgewood with Rev. Alan Van Hoosier officiating.

He was born June 29, 1946, in Ranger to William Henry Scarborough and Anne Foster Cargal.

On Dec. 27, 1969, he married Linda Dalton in Kileen.

He received a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Texas in 1969 and a Master of Business Administration in Finance from the University of North Texas in 1974.

He worked in management for Gulf Insurance Group and Fidelity Union Life in Dallas and USAA in San Antonio. 

He was an executive for Mostek and Southland Corporation which developed Las Colinas. He was the plant manager for Passport Industries and AVVID Thermal Technology in Terrell. He later founded AASTEK Technologies, also in Terrell.

He had been a real estate broker for many years following his MBA in Finance from North Texas. Later, he and Linda moved to the Canton area and opened a country real estate business, The Country Connection Real Estate.

They were a franchise with United Country from 1997-2010 and then independent realtors until his passing.

He was funny, personable, a great cook, and multi-talented. He really loved dark chocolate, rock music, and his family. 

He was an accomplished toastmaster, a Master Gardener, all-around green thumb like his grandfather, a Rotarian, Optimist, great "fire-fidgeter", super husband, super dad and grandad, and an exceptional real estate broker.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Horace and Ona Foster of Dennison; mother, Anne Foster Cargal of Dennison; his father, William Henry Scarborough and LaVerne Bryant Scarborough of Austin; and brother, John Bryant, of Austin.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Linda Dalton Scarborough; daughter, Amy Garber and husband, Lee; grandchildren, Harrison Clark Garber and Ayla Dyan Garber; and his son and partner, Ryan Scarborough and Josh Sheppard, all of the Wills Point/Canton area.  He is also survived by two brothers and their spouses, Ronnie and Donna Scarborough and William “Dusty” and Debi Scarborough of Sherman; and sister, Sherri Scarborough of Van Alstyne.
