May 12, eight individuals graduated the Van Zandt County Master Gardener training to become Texas Master Gardener interns.
These eight individuals completed the mandatory 50 hours of instruction. They will now give back 50 hours of volunteer time to earn the title of Texas Master Gardener.
This was the fourth master gardener class for Van Zandt county.
These individuals will contribute to the growing Free State Master Gardener program which is now 42 members strong, according to VZC AgriLife Extension Agent Tommy Phillips.
“For those of you that would be interested in becoming a Texas Master Gardener, this program is for you,” Phillips said. “Our fifth class will start in January 2017.”
The class will meet from 8:30 a.m. to noon each Wednesday Jan. 11 through April 19, 2017.
