Canton High School sophmore Jillian Fry advanced to the UIL Regional Tennis Tournament in Longview April 18, competing against some of the best players from across the state of Texas.

Coach Glenn Neal stated, "Jillian competed really well. She matched up with Kilgore's number one player in singles and the match up was really good. Jillian won the long match with a 7-point tie break after the second set. Both players played with determination and the match went for over two hours.

"Jillian matched up with Hollie Hutto on court 2 from Kaufman in the next round and it was a battle.  Jillian won the first match, Hollie took the second match and the sun burned and tired girls took a 10- minute break before the third set. The third set was tied 15 all when the rain came in and they were forced to get off the courts. After an hour the players were able to resume play.
