Spears graduate of Institute of Funeral Service

Landon Spears graduated Nov. 20, 2015, from The Dallas Institute of Funeral Service with an associate of applied science degree. While enrolled at The Dallas Institute of Funeral Service Spears was Student Council Chaplain, Pi Sigma Eta Honor Fraternity-Master Artist and Invocation leader. 

He was the recipient of the Bill Pierce Award, exemplary attendance award and Scholastic Gold Achievement award.

In December 2015, Spears officially passed the Arts and Science National Board exams for Mortician license in the State of Texas.  Spears is a 2014 graduate of Canton High School and is currently employed at Eubanks Funeral Home in Canton.

University News - Dallas Baptist University

Erika Morgan Erickson graduated with a bachelor of science in biology with a minor in chemistry from Dallas Baptist University during winter commencement

During her time at DBU, Erika was a member of Omicron Delta Kappa, Alpha Chi, and Beta Beta Beta honor societies. She also received the Herb Robbins pre-med scholarship and was on the dean's and president's list. Additionally, she was a member of Jewel House.

Andrea Houser DeLong graduated with a master of education in educational leadership from Dallas Baptist University during winter commencement.

Brooke Ashton Erickson graduated with an associate degree in science from Dallas Baptist University during winter commencement,

During her time at DBU, Ms. Erickson was on the dean's list.

Tyler Junior College officials have announced fall semester graduates from the college’s fire academy.

TJC’s Fire Academy graduated 16 cadets in a ceremony held Nov. 10.

The academy is a 12 week course filled with academic and practical applications to train students for fire service.

The class was led by valedictorian Justin Willoughby and salutatorian Latham Akins.

Graduating from the Fire Academy is Jeremy Simmons, Canton.

Neff recognized on president’s list.

Midwestern State University recognized 1,016 honor students for the Fall 2015 semester. A student who completes a semester schedule of at least 12 hours in one semester with no grade lower than A (4.0) will be included on the president's honor roll.
Brantlee Neff of Canton made the president’s honor roll.

Junior high band students earn All-Region honors

Dec. 3rd, many Canton Junior high band students auditioned for a place in the Region 3 All-Region Symphonic or Concertb.

“We are very proud to announce that CJH had 26 students make it including five overall First Chairs and an additional four students earned alternate status for the bands,” said band director Joshua Ritchie.
