Jack Hunter Jr., 93, of Canton, passed away Saturday, Oct. 15, 2016, in Canton.

He was born Aug. 20, 1923, in Dallas, to Earl “Jack” Hunter and Josephine Blackmon Hunter.

He grew up in Dallas where he attended school. He joined the Air Force and served as a waist gunner in a B-17 during WWII. After returning home from the war, he went to work for South Western Bell and retired after 30 years. He attended First United Methodist Church in Canton where he was very active. He was very family oriented; he enjoyed working on his farm and playing dominoes.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Josephine Hunter; wife, Julia Nell Hunter; and son, Andy Hunter.

Services for Toni Lynn Barrentine, 74, of New Braunfels were held Sunday, Oct. 16, 2016, at First Baptist Church in Canton, with Dr. Mike Roberson officiating under the direction of Eubank Funeral Home in Canton.

She died Thursday, Oct. 13, 2016, in San Antonio.

She was born Sept. 10, 1942 in Dallas to Walter B. Murphrey Jr. and Ina Lee Turner.

She grew up in Canton where she often stopped by her uncle’s soda shop where Paul worked.

She had a thriving personal relationship with Jesus Christ and was a devoted homemaker and helpmate to her husband, Paul, and four daughters.

Services for Noma Etheridge Bass, 85, of Canton, were held Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2016, at Eubank Funeral Home with Bro. Steve Glosup and Dr. Mike Roberson officiating. She died Friday, Oct. 14, 2016, in Canton.

She was born June 8, 1931, in Canton to Orville and Mittie Lee Etheridge.

She was a member of First Baptist Church and lived around the Canton area her whole life. In 1949, she married Billy Ray Bass and they raised three daughters.

She enjoyed the special bond that she shared with her twin sister, Oma. She was a housewife who loved working in her flower garden, crocheting, making things for others and cooking. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and family and serving others.

She passed away Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2016, in Canton.

Martha was born Dec. 3, 1929, in Dallas.

Funeral services for Lauren Elizabeth Ivey-Holt were held Oct. 19, 2016, at Eubank Chapel in Canton, with Brother Bryan Easley officiating.

Interment was at Oak Hill Cemetery in Edgewood.

Lauren Elizabeth Ivey-Holt was born on Sept. 21, 1993, to Kenneth and Karen Seekings Ivey in Lancaster. She grew up in Canton with one brother, Kevin.

She was a gifted student in school, always giving 100% of all of her time and talent. She made the Dean’s Honor Roll in two universities and graduated Magna Cum Laude.

She was also a very kind, loving and talented daughter, sister, wife and granddaughter. She was never too busy to spend time with her family.

Services for Jimmie Lee Starr, 83, of Wills Point, were held Saturday, Oct. 15, 2016, at First Missionary Baptist Church in Terrell, with Bro. Robbie Caldwell and Bro. Buddy Sadler officiating, under the direction of Eubank Funeral Home in Canton.

 Graveside services were at Haven of Memories Memorial Park in Canton. Mrs. Starr passed away Oct.  10, 2016, in Wills Point.

She was born June 5, 1933, to Harold Roland and Prudie Mae Manley. She loved the Lord and was a faithful member of First Missionary Baptist Church of Terrell where she taught Sunday school to 3 year olds. She adored children and had owned and operated many daycare centers including Loving Care in Allen and Starr Treehouse in Terrell.  She later became a top producing real estate agent.

Services for Haskell Truman Lawley, 85, were held Oct. 19, 2016, at Eubank Funeral Home in Canton, with Bro. Steve Glosup officiating. Graveside services were at Old Bethel Cemetery.

Mr. Lawley passed away Oct. 14, 2016, in Rowlett.

He was born March 23, 1931, in Van Zandt County to Wayne and Myrtle Smith Lawley.

He served three trips to Vietnam and then spent the last 17 years of his military service as a recruiter for reserve and guard all over the United States. He went to Germany in 1980 where he started in service recruiting and then later came back to Fort Riley, Kan.

He was a Mason and was also a member of Scottish Rite, Shriner, and Lodge Master while in Germany.

He is preceded in death by his parents; sons, Jackie Lawley and Russell Lawley; wife, Juanda Lawley; and wife, Liz Lawley.

Services for Faye Baker, 90, were held Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2016, at Hilliard Funeral Home with Pastor Bennie Bowles and Assistant Pastor Steve Taylor officiating.  

A private family graveside service was held at Colfax Cemetery. 

Mrs. Baker was born Jan. 5, 1926, in Wills Point to Johnnie and Cleio Miles McBride.  She passed away Oct. 15, 2016, at The Hospice of East Texas in Tyler.  She was a graduate of Wills Point High School and worked in a number of nursing homes and restaurants through the years. 

She married Henry Ray Baker on Dec. 5, 1973.  She loved going to First Monday, and selling and trading books.  She was of the Baptist faith. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Johnnie Estes McBride and Willie Cleio Miles McBride; brother, Ocie McBride; and sisters, Edna Farris and Mary Jean Smith.
