Larry Thomas

1961-2014

Larry Ray Thomas, of Eustace, passed away April 27, 2015.

He was born June 20, 1943, and raised in Canton. Larry grew up attending the First Baptist Church in Canton, and would later be baptized there.

Larry graduated from Canton High School in 1961. He married and had four children and continued to live in Canton.

1926-2015

Hudson Howard Bubar II died peacefully in his sleep on May 2, 2015, in Forney. 

Born in Brooklyn, N.Y. on Dec. 30, 1926, Hudson began a 20-year career in the United States Navy, enlisting on Feb, 4, 1944. 

Hudson retired to the United States Fleet Reserve on the July 30, 1963, with the Rank of Chief Petty Officer/Radioman.  He proudly served aboard several ships, with final duty with the Commander in Chief, US Atlantic Fleet from Jan. 1961 to July 1963.

Hudson brought his family to reside in Cambridge, N.Y., which was the first home they ever had as a family.  Civilian jobs varied, from being a part of the IBM Development Team for OS3, to owning and operating Cambridge Taxi and returning to the water as chef aboard New York Harbor tugboats.

Bernice Eileen Wogan, 87, of Emory, passed away Tuesday, April 28, 2015, at Trinity Mother Frances Hospital, in Winnsboro. 

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Wilson-Orwosky Funeral Home, of Emory.  Interment will be at Mt. Lindo, Morrison, Colo.  No services are scheduled at this time.

Services for Betty Dunbar, 83, of Grand Saline were held May 3, 2015, at Crossroads Church of Christ with Don Cannon officiating under the direction of Bartley Funeral Home. Interment followed in Creagleville Cemetery. Ms. Dunbar passed away May 1, 2015, in Quitman. She was born July 16, 1931, in Dawson to Alvis Davis and Elsie Ruth Grier Fagg.

Carlton Slay 1929-2015

Carlton Lee Slay, 85, of Edgewood passed away on Sunday, April 26, 2015 at Presbyterian Hospital of Kaufman. He was born on Dec. 10, 1929, in Wolfe City to Oscar Vance and Marie Eoff Slay. Mr. Slay was of the Baptist Faith, and served for 10 years in the United States Marine Corps during World War II. He was the owner of Carl’s Lawn and Landscaping service for 36 years in Riverside, Calif.
