Services for Earlene Usry, 82, of Canton, were held Oct. 14, 2016, at Eubank Funeral Chapel with Bro. Jerry Weems and Bro. Brian McWhorter officiating.

Interment was at Haven of Memories Memorial Park in Canton.

She was born Feb. 14, 1934, in Dallas to Gus Lynn and Junie Blonde Lewis.

She was a Baptist by faith and attended Wildwood Baptist Church.  She had lived in Canton for the past 46 years.

Mrs. Usry enjoyed going as a sponsor to church camp for 29 years.  She also enjoyed volunteering at the nursing homes and working with the special needs community. She especially enjoyed spending time and having fun with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Ricky Ray, and nine brothers and sisters.

Services for Jimmy Ray Grace of Ben Wheeler were held Monday, Oct. 10, 2016, at Eubank Funeral Home in Canton with Bro. Steve Glosup officiating. 

Interment will be at Haven of Memories Memorial Park in Canton.

He passed away Oct. 7, 2016, in Ben Wheeler.

He was born Jan. 19, 1932, in Dallas to Buel Hubard and Sula Beatrice Grace.

He served in the Air Force. He worked in the road construction business and moved around the state before making Ben Wheeler his home.  He enjoyed working on tractors. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his sons, Jim and Jerry Don Grace; granddaughter, Becky Miller; grandson Jeremy Grace and wife Heather; granddaughter, Jeri Ashford; grandson, Matthew Grace and four great-grandchildren, Mason, Alison, Bo and Dylan.

Family graveside services for Gerald Richard Whitton, 91, of Colfax, were held Sept. 14, 2016, at Colfax Cemetery with family members officiating.

Richard, as most people knew him, died Sept. 13, 2016, in Tyler.

He was born Nov. 4, 1924, in Slaton to the late Willie and Portia Whitton. He grew up in the Whitton community in Van Zandt County. 

After serving in the Navy during World War II, he returned home and married the love of his life, Emily Celeta Mayne, the day before his 22nd birthday in 1946.  They were married in Celeta’s aunt’s home on Big Rock Street in Canton by Mr. Whitton’s great-uncle, J. Porter Wilhite, renowned gospel minister. 

Although it rained “cats and dogs” at the wedding, their marital bliss was never dampened and they were married nearly 55 years before her death in 2001.

Services for Gerald Montgomery, 86, of Canton are scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 16, 2016, at Eubank Funeral Chapel in Canton with Bro. Dan Tarno, Gary Sewell and Kirby Montgomery officiating.  TAPS will be played by Ridge Taylor.

Interment will be in Haven of Memories.

Mr. Montgomery passed away Sept. 30, 2016, in Canton.  He was born April 2, 1930, in Canton to the late Clarence and Ollie Lenor Montgomery. 

He was a member of the Wallace United Methodist Church.  He grew up in Canton and lived in Oak Cliff for many years before returning to Canton.  He worked for Vitalic Battery Company for many years and then for the Canton School District.  He was also a farmer and a woodcutter.  He loved to volunteer at the Van Zandt County Veterans Memorial.

Services for Carmen Hernandez White, 78, of Canton, were held Sept. 21, 2016, at Eubank Funeral Home in Canton with Roger Hart officiating.

Interment was at Tidmore Cemetery in Van Zandt County near the Henderson County Line.

Mrs. White passed away Sept. 18, 2016, at her home in Canton with her husband by her side.

She was born March 14, 1938, at Baylor Hospital in Dallas to Elias and Carmen Morales Hernandez.

She was raised in Dallas. When she grew up she worked at Baylor Hospital for three years, then at Sears Roebuck on Lamar Street for 28 years until she retired.

Services for Laura Marie Stuart, 91, of Canton, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 9 at Eubank Funeral Chapel with Bro. Ronnie Daniell officiating.  Interment will be in Haven of Memories. 

Mrs. Stuart passed away Friday, Sept. 30, 2016,  at her home in Canton.  She was born Jan. 20, 1925, in Dallas to Nester Lechen and Etta Mirand Godfrey Shelton. 

She graduated from Lone Oak High School.  She lived in California for a short time and then returned to Dallas.  She and her husband moved to Canton in 1971.  She enjoyed gardening, shopping and spending time with her grandchildren. 

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George D. Stuart; daughter, Patricia Ann Rucker; granddaughter, Wendy Gail Wade; two brothers: Howard and Leslie Shelton; and a sister, Vera Quarels.

Services for Jimmy Ray Taylor were held Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2016, at Eubank Funeral Chapel in Canton,  with Bro. Randy Crudgington officiating.

Interment was at Old Bethel Cemetery in Canton.

He passed away Sept. 18, 2016, in Tyler.

He was born Sept. 21, 1940, in Pauls Valley, Okla. to John Fletcher and Ruth Ozell Taylor.

He grew up and attended school in Pauls Valley, Okla. He joined the Air Force and served as a Military Policeman.

He married on Nov.22, 1961, and moved to Dallas where he was employed at Dallas Power and Light for 36 years.  He retired to Pray, Mont., for several years before moving to Canton in 2000.  He loved softball and played well into his 50s even sometimes playing with broken bones.

Mr. Potter was born Oct. 13, 1945, and passed away Sept. 23, 2016, in Mineola.
