Canton Lions provide vision screenings

Courtesy photo
Performing the screenings were Lion Benja Mize, Lion Jerry Liles, Liles’ grandchildren,
Rachael Liles and Avery Strain, and also Lion Jimmy Strickland and Lion Judge Teresa Drum.

The Canton Lions Club provided free eye screenings at the Van Zandt County Library July 17.

The handheld screening device used by the club is capable of reading a person as young as 6 months old’s vision and only takes seconds to perform.

The device has flashing lights and sound that attracts attention and then “locks” on the eyes with results appearing on a screen.  The reading is done from about three feet.

Pet of the Week

Todd the young dog is a thinker.

Todd likes to watch what is going on before joining in with the other dogs. It's as if he is considering things.

Although a smaller dog than his siblings, he can act like a lion once he joins in the play. He would do well in a home without other dogs or with dogs that are friendly and accepting.

Todd would enjoy swimming, playing fetch and wrestling with you.  He has a lot of energy and a lot of love.

He is a shepherd lab mix, neutered and current on vaccines.

Please call the Van Zandt County Humane Society at 903-962-5700 to adopt Todd.
