Memorial services for Michael Ray Shinn, 56, Gun Barrel City, were held Saturday, Sept. 23, 2017, under the direction of Moorhead – Epps Funeral Home officiated by Bro. Ed Schauer.

Mr. Shinn passed away Sept. 18, 2017, in Athens.

He was born Aug. 22, 1961, in Fort Worth to Kennith and Jeanne Clark Shinn. He attended elementary school in Canton and graduated from Bandera High School in 1979. He married his true love, Kerry, 14 years ago.

He had managed the Gun Barrel City Kwik Kar Lube & Tune for the last 17 years. His customers and coworkers alike often enjoyed a cup of coffee and conversation with him.

He enjoyed listening to music and playing his guitar, but his favorite pastime was spending time with his family and friends.

He was a wonderful son, dad, grandfather and a dear friend to many. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Martha Elizabeth Byars Hull Wetherholt

Martha Elizabeth Byars Hull Wetherholt was born June 24, 1945, in Nashville, Tenn. to Dr. Perry J.C. Byars Jr. and Margaret Elsie Dobbins Byars.

She was raised in San Angelo and graduated in 1963 from San Angelo Central High School. She attended Trinity University in San Antonio, Angelo State Community College in San Angelo, and graduated from San Bernardino Valley College of Nursing in 1968 with Registered Nurse Licensures in California, Texas, South Carolina and Florida.

She married John W. Hull Jr. in 1964, and they had a son, John W. Hull III. They divorced in 1979. She married her beloved husband, Charles Victor Wetherholt in 1982, and they moved to Canton near Martins Mill and Walnut Springs community.

Services for Charles Eugene Wilhite, 83, of Canton, were held Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2017, at Eubank Funeral Chapel with Bro. Jack Thompson and Bro. Altos Womble officiating. Interment followed in Haven of Memories. Mr. Wilhite passed away Saturday, Sept. 16, 2017, in Canton.

He was born Oct. 18, 1933, in Fruitvale to William Charles and Nellie Gunter Wilhite.

He was a member of the Midway Church of God. He served two years in the Navy during the Korean War. When he returned from the Navy, he was a truck driver for Red Ball Freight and Coca Cola for many years. He served 21 years with the Canton Police Department and retired as a sergeant. He enjoyed raising cattle on his Jumping W Ranch.

He is preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Cheryl Smith.

Funeral services for Jeanie Faye Barnes, 84, of Canton, were held Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2017, at Allan Fuller Funeral Home Chapel in Wills Point with Bro. Billy Smith officiating.

Interment followed the Dallas/Ft. Worth National Cemetery.

Mrs. Barnes passed away Saturday, Sept. 16, 2017, in Canton.

She was born April 14, 1933, in Dallas to Varnie Lee Greer and Cora Geneva Balliew Greer. She was raised in the Dallas area and attended Sunset High School in Dallas. She was formerly a dental assistant in Irving. She married Eddie Barnes in Irving on June 19, 1981. She lived in Grand Prairie prior to moving to Canton in 1996.

She loved going to church, spending time with friends and family, decorating and tending to her rose bushes. She was a member of Walnut Springs Bible Baptist Church in Canton.

Services for Denith Fay Heddins, 90, of Edgewood, were held Saturday, Sept. 16, 2017, at Eubank Funeral Home in Canton, with Dr. Mark Moore and Bro. Carlton Young officiating.

Interment was in Haven of Memories Memorial Park.

Mrs. Heddins passed away Sept. 13, 2017 in Wills Point. She was born Sept.30, 1926, in Wills Point to Walter Heddis and Lula Elizabeth Jackson McEnturff.

She was a member of the Good Hope Baptist Church and the Teachers Retirement System.

She enjoyed cooking, working in her garden, spending time with her family and going out to eat, especially to the Dairy Palace. She retired as the head cook for Edgewood ISD after 27 years of service. She had been a resident at Crestwood for the past six and a half years.

Funeral services for Sherrell A. Green, 73, Martin’s Mill, were held Monday, Sept. 11, 2017, at Eubank Funeral Home in Canton with Bro. Bill Slayton and Bro. James Nickell officiating. Internment followed at Haven of Memories Memorial Park in Canton.

Mr. Green passed away Sept. 8, 2017, in Tyler of natural causes. He was born on Jan. 11, 1944, in Wills Point to Angus Leon Green and Birdie Smithart Green.

He was a minister, a talented carpenter and cook, a man who loved the outdoors and life in the country. He was also a beloved son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was always very active until he became ill with Parkinson’s disease.

Having been orphaned at a young age and raised in less than ideal circumstances, he was fiercely protective of his own family.

Services for Phyllis Janell Aldridge, 70, of Martins Mill, were held Sunday, Sept. 10, 2017, at Eubank Funeral Home with Bro. Matt Parker officiating. Interment followed at Haven of Memories in Canton.

Mrs. Aldridge passed away Thursday, Sept. 7, 2017, at her home in Martins Mill. She was born Dec. 23, 1946, in Athens to G.A. Daniel and Jonnie Geneva Janes.

She grew up in Dallas and graduated from Samuels High School. She married Albert Aldridge June 20, 1964.

She attended Henderson County Community College before receiving her Bachelor’s Degree in Education from UT Tyler.The Aldridges lived in Van for over 20 years before retiring to Martins Mill.

She enjoyed shopping, barrel racing, horse riding and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was a member of Martins Mill Baptist Church for over 40 years.

Interment followed at High Cemetery.

Mrs. Dewees passed away Sept. 3, 2017, in Canton.

She was born Jan. 9, 1927, in Wills Point to Ivan Tully Lamb and Virginia Etta Johnson.

She grew up in Wills Point and graduated from Wills Point High School in 1944. She married A.B. Dewees right out of school and they lived in the Hayden Community. She loved her God and her church. She was very family oriented and enjoyed cooking, playing dominoes and Uno. She was an amazing seamstress and enjoyed making Halloween costumes for her grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Ivan and Virginia Lamb; husband, A.B. Dewees; seven sisters; great-great-grandson, Bo McNeil Shaw; and son-in-Law, Jerry Bonsal.

Interment followed at Hagerman Cemetery in Pottsboro.

Mrs. Denman passed away Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2017, in Canton.

She was born in Texas City May 22, 1956, to Ernest Edward McClelland and Georgia May Cade. She attended school in Austin. She married Bryan Denman Dec. 23, 1997, in San Antonio.

She graduated from Trinity Valley Community College and was a registered nurse for various companies and hospitals for 19 years.

She is preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, Richard Kraemer; sister, Linda Miller; and her brother, Mark McClelland.

Services for Faye W. Stewart, 80, of Canton, will be held at a later date.

Interment will be at Haven of Memories Memorial Park in Canton under the direction of Allan Fuller Funeral Home in Wills Point.

Mrs. Stewart passed away Friday, Sept. 1, 2017, at her home in Canton.

She was born Feb. 18, 1937, in Canton to Harden and Lou Wilhite. She was raised in Canton and graduated from Canton High School in 1954. Shortly after graduation, in August 1954, she married Bill Allred in Wills Point. They lived in Wills Point, where she was a realtor at Allred Real Estate, a substitute teacher at Wills Point ISD and a Cub Scout leader.

She played bridge, golfed and spent as much time as possible with her sisters, Gay Mitchell and Jeri Sullivan.
