Charles Ray Golden

A memorial service for Charles Ray Golden, 89, of Athens, was held Friday, Oct. 20, 2017, at Eubank Funeral Home in Canton.

Mr. Golden passed away Oct. 15, 2017, in Tyler.

He was born June 24, 1928, in Myrtle Springs to Earl W. Golden and Viola V. King.

He grew up in Myrtle Springs where he attended school. He joined the army and served as cook during the Korean War. He married Aneta Flatt June 24, 1954, and they moved to Dallas. He worked for Halco Fence Co. for several years before retiring to Athens. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and hunting in his spare time.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Viola Golden; wife, Aneta Rose Golden; daughter, Rhonda Daniels; and five brothers and sisters, James Golden, Ben Golden, Lillian Miles, Opal Turnage and Lois Mince.

Memorial services for Norma Marie "MeMaw" Hubbard, 87, of Murchison, were held Friday, Oct. 13, 2017, at Eubank Funeral Home in Canton. Interment followed in the Edom Cemetery.

Mrs. Hubbard passed away Oct. 9, 2017, in Athens.

was born March 24, 1930, to Leo Thomas and Loette Rebecca Stegman Scarborough.

She was a Presbyterian by faith. She was married to the love of her life, Bobby Glenn, for 67 years. They lived in Dallas for many years before moving to Callender Lake. She enjoyed travelling, square dancing and being a grandmother. She was a charter member of the Friendship Club at Callender Lake. She had lived in Oak Wood Assisted Living for the past four years.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Loette Scarborough; husband, Bobby Glenn Hubbard; and brother, Leo Scarborough Jr.

She was born July 24, 1929, in Canton to Monroe Carroll and Ophelia Denson Walters.

Funeral services for Judy Ann Clements, 72, of Ola, were held Saturday, Oct. 14, 2017, at Parker-Ashworth Funeral Home in Kaufman. Internment followed at Prairie Springs Cemetery in Ben Wheeler.

Mrs. Clements passed away Oct. 11, 2017, at her home.

She was born on May 21, 1945, in Kaufman to J.D. and Alfa Howell. She married Leonard Clements June 10, 1970, in Canton. She worked for the Kaufman County Clerk’s Office for 20 years, then she worked for Dr. Embry as a receptionist and retired after 20 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Clements, parents, J.D. and Alfa Howell, sister, Becky Sims, and nephews, Todd Charlton and Chad Sims.

Mrs. Phillips passed away Oct. 4, 2017.

She was born on Dec. 25, 1925, in Prairieville to Lee and Elsie Spainhour Williams.

She lived in the Walton Community for many years and was a member of China Grove Baptist Church. She enjoyed traveling and gardening.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gilmon Dean Phillips; and sons, Danny Phillips, Johnny Phillips and William Lee Phillips.

Interment followed in Kreymer Cemetery in Wylie.

He passed away Oct. 6, 2017, in Canton.

He was born Aug. 28, 1996, in Athens to William Brian Boles and Donna Deann Marsh Boles.

He loved playing video games, Pokémon, watching movies, anime and listening to music. He loved animals and had a good heart with a pure soul. His life was devoted to his wife, Deanna and son, Kyle.

He is preceded in death by his father, Brian Boles; and his grandfather, Ronnie Boles.

Memorial services for Tommy Frank Cole, 90, Canton, are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 7, 2017, at New Horizon Assembly of God in Grand Saline with Pastor Randy Fisher officiating.

Mr. Cole passed away Saturday, Sept. 30 at his home in Canton.

He was a lifelong resident of the Canton area. He served proudly in the army in World War II. He was retired from Morton Salt Company.

He is preceded in death by parents, Dave R. and Georgia Russell; brother, Gene Russell; and grandchildren, Brandy Wilson and Bobby Joe Morman.

Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Rosemary Cole of Canton; sons, Thomas E. Cole, Bill D. and Jeannie Cole, Rockey C. and Vickie Cole, and Homer L. Cole, all of Canton; daughter, Patty and husband, Rickey Netherland of Grand Saline; 11 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Wells passed away Sunday, Oct. 1, 2017, in Canton. She was born June 14, 1921, to Robert and Lessie Gilliam Bailey.

She was a member of the Corinth Missionary Baptist Church. She grew up in the Starr Community and was a proud graduate of Grand Saline High School. She was a homemaker and enjoyed travelling with her husband after he retired, gardening, spending time with her family and playing Forty-two.

Mrs. Wells is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 58 years, J.D. Wells; son-in-law, Truman Oakley Sr.; and her sister, Inez White.

Services for Faye Wann Reeves, 98, of Myrtle Springs, were held Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2017, at Eubank Funeral Home Chapel in Canton.

Interment followed in Myrtle Springs Cemetery.

Mrs. Reeves passed away Friday, Sept. 29, 2017, in Grand Saline.

She was born Aug. 1, 1919, in Forreston to Ida Mary Shrader and Edward Calvin Wann.

She grew up in Van Zandt County and was a member of Brookside Baptist Church. She enjoyed helping her late husband, the Rev. W. A. Reeves, in his ministry at several Baptist churches.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; two brothers, Louis and Roy Wann; and two sisters, Elva Wilson and Pauline Waites.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Nancy Reeves of Midland; grandson, Jason E. Reeves of Green River, Wyo.; granddaughter, Rachelle Reeves of Rochester, Minn; and four great-grandchildren.

Vincent Siering Haneman Jr.

Memorial services for Major General USAF (ret.) Vincent Siering Haneman Jr., of Columbus, Ga., were held Thursday, Aug. 31, 2017, at St. Luke United Methodist Church in Columbus, with the Rev. Robert Beckum officiating. Mr. Haneman died Aug. 29, 2017, at age 93.

He was born in Orange, N.J. to the late Associate Justice Vincent Siering Haneman, New Jersey Supreme Court, and Helen Harris Haneman. He attended school in Brigantine, N.J., and became an Eagle Scout, a member of the high school swim team and an accomplished life guard.

After graduation, he attended Massachusetts Institute of Technology where he was a member of the swim team and Sigma Nu fraternity.
