Services for James Doyle Dove, 90, of the Colfax community, were held Monday, Aug. 14, 2017, at Eubank Funeral Home Chapel in Canton with Rev. John Zeigler officiating. Burial followed at Haven of Memories. Mr. Dove passed away Aug. 10 at his home.

He was born June 9, 1927, near Abilene to Karl D. and Nancy Melissa Stewart Dove. After graduating from Van High School, he moved to Dallas and worked at North American Aviation. He joined the Navy at age 18 and served stateside until the end of World War II. After the war, he returned to Van Zandt County where he lived the rest of his life. He married Marjorie Ray of Canton, Dec. 20, 1951.

Funeral services for Sharon Trussell, 67, of Canton were held on Friday, August 11, 2017 at Eubank Funeral Home in Canton, with Robert Winn officiating. Interment was in Haven of Memories Memorial Park in Canton.

She was born on Dec. 11, 1949 in Paris to Paul and Dorothy Ray, and passed away on Aug. 6, 2017 in Tulsa, Okla. Her favorite activity was spending time with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed traveling, fishing, sewing, and watching her son race.

Memorial services for Jimmy Wayne Frederick Jr, 61, of Larue, were held at Eubank Funeral Home in Canton, Saturday, Aug. 12, 2017. He passed away July 28, 2017, in Durango, Colo.

He was born on Nov. 24, 1955, in Dallas to Jimmy Wayne Frederick Sr. and Emily Hutto Frederick. He not only was a son, brother, husband and father, he was a true friend to all that knew and loved him. He was a true cowboy even at a young age and was fortunate to have made that his livelihood as an adult.

Services for Jean Gray were held on Sunday, August 13, 2017 at Hilliard Funeral Home with a graveside to follow at Prairie Springs Cemetery, Ben Wheeler, with her grandsons serving as pallbearers.

Ruby Jean Hall Gray was born July 18, 1925 in Waco. She was currently living in Irving, formerly living in the Canton area. She was a member of Order of Eastern Star and a homemaker.

She passed away at the age of 92 on Aug. 9, 2017 in Irving. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wendle Allen Gray in 2007; daughter, Linda Taylor in 2008; parents, Preston Bacon Hall and Ruby Mae Herrod Shelby; brother, Preston Hall; and two grandsons, Richard and Larry Ricketts.

Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Sue and Ronnie Wright of Bogota, Brenda Sartin of Dallas, and Mary and Ronnie Giles of Chandler; twelve grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

Services for Don "Pappy" Davis, 77, of Canton were held Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2017, at Eubank Funeral Chapel with Bro. Steve Glosup officiating. Interment followed in Haven of Memories. Mr. Davis passed away Saturday, Aug. 12, 2017, in Canton.

He was born Feb. 7, 1940, in Canton to Ebb Riley and Jewel Marie Malone Davis. He was a Christian by faith. He lived most of his life in Canton. He enjoyed going to the sale barn, bailing hay, hanging out at Free State Storage and spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, James.

Services for Huleen Whitton Walters, 94, of Canton, were held Thursday, Aug. 3, 2017, at Eubank Funeral Home with Bro. Larry Page officiating. Interment followed at Haven of Memories. Mrs. Walters passed away July 29, 2017, in Canton.

She was born Oct. 5, 1922, to Eva and Otis Steward. At age four, she attended a Catholic school and then attended eleven different schools before the seventh grade. At age fifteen she married Spencer Whitton, Feb. 28, 1938, and they had three precious daughters. They were married for 36 years until Whitton’s death July 24, 1974. Twenty-three years later she met and married Kellis Walters. She worked for Terrell State Hospital for 29 years after receiving her GED.

A memorial service for Stephanie Jill Godwin, 49, of Canton, was held Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2017, under the direction of Eubank Funeral Home.

Mrs. Godwin passed away July 31, 2017, in Dallas.

She was born Sept. 16, 1967, in Atlanta, Ga. to Darlene and Read Williams. She grew up in Georgia and graduated from Georgia Southern in 1989. She worked for GA Trust for Historic Preservation before moving to Dallas in 1993. She worked as a consultant to preserve Katy Trail in Dallas as well as an executive secretary for Relocation Appraisers and Consultants.

She was very active in the Women’s League of Canton, Wednesday Study Club, Van Zandt Museum Board, Canton Main Street Autumn Stroll, Canton ISD, Van Zandt County Veteran’s Memorial and Relay of Life. She was a member of St. Justin’s Episcopal Church.

Services for Larry Keith Reynolds, 82, of Mesquite were held Friday, July 28, 2017, at the Eubank Funeral Chapel with Chaplain Denny Burris officiating. Interment was in Haven of Memories.

passed away July 26, 2017 in Dallas. He was born July 19, 1935 in Colfax to Bradford Bryan and Thelma Maxine Hardegree Reynolds. He was a Methodist by faith. He served in the US Army and retired after 32 years with the Dallas Fire Department. After his retirement he worked for Freeman Decorating. He loved spending time at the farm and with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Peggy Clark.
