Funeral services for Billy Wayne Cotton, 62, of Edgewood were held Oct. 7, 2015, at Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home Chapel in Edgewood. 

Burial followed at Small Cemetery, just north of Edgewood.

Billy Cotton passed away Oct. 3, 2015, at a hospital in Sunnyvale.

He was born May 2, 1953, in Edgewood.

Services for Bryant Travis Foster, 77, of Brownsboro, are scheduled for 4 p.m. Oct. 1, 2015,  at Eubank Funeral Home in Canton, with Bro. Tom Bragdon officiating. Interment will be in Rock Hill Cemetery.

He passed away Sept. 27, 2015, in Tyler.

Travis Foster was born on Feb. 15, 1938, to Marcus and Mary Mills Foster.

He was a member of Leagueville Baptist in Murchison. He was married 35 years to his precious wife Judy.

Ruth Adkins

Services for Ruth Sayers Adkins, 80, of Grand Saline, were held Sept. 26, 2015, at Main Street Baptist Church. Bro. Paul Henry and Dr. Bruce Smilie officiated. Arrangements were under the direction of Bartley Funeral Home. 

Interment followed in Silver Lake Cemetery.

Ruth Adkins passed away Sept. 23, 2015, in Garland.  She was born Oct. 25, 1934, in Van Zandt County to Eddie Joel and Fannie Wade Starnes Sayers.  She spent most of her life in the Silver Lake Community and retired as a real estate broker. 

Mrs. Adkins was a member of Main Street Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for over 25 years and was in the Friendship Class and Fun after 55 group.  She was also a member of the Grand Saline Study Club, served as secretary of Silver Lake Cemetery Association for many years and was involved in a special social group called "IFFS".

Services for Peggy Jeanie Breaux, 64, of Wills Point were held Sept. 25, 2015, at St. Therese Catholic Church of Canton.

Peggy Breaux passed away Sept. 22, 2015, in Wills Point.

She was born Oct. 13, 1950, in Beaumont to Wallace and Peggy Foster Howard.

She was Catholic by faith and a member of St. Therese Catholic Church in Canton. She loved sports, bowling, and softball. She was an accomplished photographer and enjoyed taking all kinds of pictures. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother.

Mrs. Breaux is preceded in death by her parents.

Services for Kathleen Yancey, 81, of Canton, were held Sept. 24, 2015, at the Eubank Funeral Chapel in Canton. Bro. Ron Moore officiated. 

Interment was in Meredith Campground Cemetery in Walton.

Mrs. Yancey died Sept. 21, 2015, in Tyler.  She was born Aug. 19, 1934, in Marble Falls to William Beecher and Lorine Darter Ramsdell. 

She married Kenneth Yancey on Dec. 20, 1953, in Marble Falls. They have lived in Canton for the past 48 years.

Mrs. Yancy was a member of the Little Hope Baptist Church and the Lions Club. She was the first Lady Lion in District 2X2.  She was also a member of the Eastern Star where she served as a Past Matron of Canton 667, Wills Point 366 and Edgewood 904.

Edith Samford

Funeral services for Mrs. Edith Faye Samford were held Sept. 29, 2015, at Eubank Funeral Home.

Edith Samford was born Aug. 11, 1924, and passed of natural causes Sept. 26, 2015. 

She spent her youth in East Texas, graduating from Edgewood High School.  She and Ethan Truman Samford were married in 1945.  Together they made their home in Dallas and later in Canton.  They were married for 51 years before he died in 1996.

After moving to Canton in 1974, she discovered a love for the game of golf and began playing at age 50.  She was an active member of the Van Zandt Country Club Ladies Golf Association until she was 82.  She and Truman also loved to travel and did so extensively in their motorhome, accompanied by other camper friends.  She spent the last three years of her life at Christian Care Center in Mesquite where she made many new friends.

Mary Louise Curtis, 78, of Canton passed away Sept. 16, 2015, in Canton. 

Mrs. Curtis was born April 9, 1937, to James and Evelyn Altmeyer in Los Angeles, Calif.  She served in the United States Navy as a Navy photographer and printer.  She headed up the Navy Drum and Bugle Corp and served as the drum major in the U.S. Navy Band. 

While serving in the Navy, she met and married the love of her life, Charles Curtis in 1958.  She worked for many years at Lockheed Aircraft before moving to Texas.  Their family moved to Canton in 1976, where they raised their five children.
