Adene King

1921-2015

Services for Adene King, 94, of Grand Saline, were held Oct. 29, 2015, at the Eubank Funeral Home with Bro. Ronnie Daniell officiating.  Interment was in the Creagleville Cemetery.

Mrs. King died Oct. 25, 2015, in Mansfield.  She was born April 15, 1921, in Grand Saline to Benjamin Ethan and Hattie Lee Burrow Herron.  She grew up in Van Zandt County. 

She married Lovered King in 1940.  They lived in Mesquite from 1945 to 1972 when they moved to the Lawrence Springs Community near Grand Saline.  She was a member of the Lawrence Springs Baptist Church. 

Mrs. King is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Arlie Lovered King; and eight brothers and sisters. 

Patricia Landers

1948-2015

Memorial services for Patricia Ann Swaffar Landers, 67, of Eustace, were held Oct. 24, 2015, at Lakeside Baptist Church.

She died Oct. 21, 2015, in Tyler.

Mrs. Landers was born Oct. 13, 1948, in Irving, to Walter Lee and Wilie Ann Swaffar.

She was a member of Walnut Springs Baptist Church. She was married to her faithful husband, Jim for 45 years. She enjoyed cooking and keeping her home.

She loved her Lord and teaching Sunday school. She really liked sports, especially the Texas Rangers. She enjoyed everyone that she met and she loved her friends and family very much.

Mrs. Landers is preceded in death by her parents; brother, John Swaffar; brother, LaVern Swaffar; and sister, Clara Harris.

Mary Rabb

1928-2015

Mary Frances Rabb, 87, of Point, died Oct. 23, 2015, at the Wesley House in Sulphur Springs. 

Funeral services were held Oct. 26, 2015, at the Point United Methodist Church. 

Interment followed in the Lone Star Cemetery in Point.

Haskell Berry

1925-2015

Funeral services for Haskell B. Berry, 90, of Edgewood, were held Oct. 22, 2015, at Hiett’s LyBrand Chapel in Edgewood. Burial followed at Oak Hill Cemetery in Edgewood.

On Oct. 19, 2015, Haskell Benard Berry Sr. left this life behind at the young age of 90, and arrived at his new home in Heaven. He is now rejoicing with the Lord and many precious family members.

He was born April 22, 1925, to Laura Tempe and Samuel Warren Berry in Edgewood. He graduated from Edgewood High School in 1942.

He enlisted in the Army in 1943. Haskell boarded a ship to New Guinea and served in combat in the Pacific Islands and Japan while serving under General MacArthur. Haskell graduated with an agriculture degree from Sam Houston University. He taught Ag at Tyler Jr. College for several years. 

Eugene Ellis

1927-2015

Services for Ira Eugene "Gene" Ellis, 88, of Grand Saline, were held Oct. 22, 2015, at Bartley Funeral Home with Bro. Michael Mize officiating. Interment and military honors followed in Haven of Memories, Canton.

Mr. Ellis died Oct. 19, 2015, at his home.  He was born Jan. 8, 1927, in the Roundflat Community of Van Zandt County to Ira Marion and Cecile Anne Pugh Ellis.  He had been a resident of Van Zandt County his whole life. 

He spent his early years working for Magnolia Oil Company in Kilgore.  He also owned and operated Western Auto Stores in Grand Saline and Wills Point and a used furniture and antique store in Grand Saline.  He was a 33^rd degree Mason and served in the U.S. Army during World War II

Beverley Beckham

1930-2015

Services for Beverley Beckham, 85, of Grand Saline, were held Oct. 21, 2015, at the First United Methodist Church with Pastor Mark Pedersen and Bro. Jon Clark officiating. Interment was in Woodside Cemetery under the direction of Bartley Funeral Home.

Ms. Beckham died Oct. 18, 2015, at her home in Grand Saline.  She was born March 16, 1930, in Edmond, Okla.

Vivian Shrader

1924-2015

Services for Vivian Shrader, 91, of Grand Saline, were held Oct. 18, 2015, at Bartley Funeral Home with Chaplain Pat Cooper officiating.

Mrs. Shrader died Oct. 12, 2015, at her home in Grand Saline.  She was born May 31, 1924, in Albion, Okla., to Reubin Francis and Winnie Lee Ladd Holloway. 

Vivian lived in Mesquite for over 30 years before moving to Grand Saline in 2001.  She worked as a claims manager for insurance companies. 

Mrs. Shrader is preceded in death by her parents; husband, George Shrader; two brothers, Monroe Holloway and Alton Holloway; and sister, Jane Callahan.

She is survived by her son, Michael Shrader of Grand Saline; sister, Imogene Moore of Grand Saline; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Teresa Fortner

1956-2015

Services for Teresa Ann Fortner, 59, of Wills Point were held Oct. 14, 2015, at Eubank Funeral Home with Bro. Stephen DeVille officiating.  Interment was at Haven of Memories in Canton.

Teresa Fortner passed away Friday, Oct. 9, 2015, in Tyler.

She was born Sept. 14, 1956, in Dallas to Monroe and Dorothy Nelson.

She grew up in the Pleasant Grove Community and graduated from W.W. Samuels High School.

She married Richard Fortner Oct. 3, 1991, and they lived in Garland for several years before moving to Wills Point in 2000. Teresa had a great love for dogs and would always have a home for one in need. She enjoyed writing letters, traveling and mowing the yard.

Mrs. Fortner is preceded in death by her parents, Monroe and Dorothy Nelson; son, Michael Fortner; sister, Margaret and Jerry Weldon; and brother-in-law, William Fortner.

Sarah Emerline

1917-2015

Sarah Addielou Emerline, 98, of Emory, died Oct. 14, 2015, at her home. 

She was born April 23, 1917, in Linden, Tenn.

Burial was Oct. 15, 2015, at the Pilgrim Rest #1 Cemetery.

Mary Dickerson

1925-2015

Services for Mary Olean Dickerson, 90, were held Oct.17, 2015, at Main Street Baptist Church with Bro. David Crain officiating. She was born Sept. 21, 1925. Interment was in Woodside Cemetery under the direction of Bartley Funeral Home.

Mrs. Dickerson died Sunday, Oct. 11, 2015.
