Socks and shoes

One of my Social Media friends asked me “What do I do about these blisters that I got from walking?” That question brought back some painful memories.

In early fall of 2004, I went to Ohio to walk in the Columbus 10K Walk. It is the biggest event for walkers in this part of the world. I just had my picture on the cover of Walk Magazine and was a new expert in the field of completive walking. I had my WALKING STEP SHIRT and walking shoes and bright shorts, and that weird hat I had designed. I finished seventh in my age bracket. I left after the race in intense pain. I was a no show for the photo op and TV interview. I suffered in private and made no comments. The blisters on both feet were awful. I was hurting and embarrassed.

Has your identity been stolen?

The internet has become a large part of our lives. Younger folks participate willingly and many older folks are forced to participate if they are going to stay current and function within the main stream.

Making a 72-hour emergency kit for $20

A “72-Hour Emergency Kit” is portable, has basic supplies and tides a couple of people over for 72 hours.

It may take that long for local, county, state, and non-profit agencies to respond to a disaster or emergency. Until then, you’re on your own.

A commercial kit can cost hundreds of dollars. A truly comprehensive 72-hour kit requires a truck to haul it.

If you’ll settle for a smaller, homemade kit, you can make one for around $20. Here’s what you need:

• Carrying bag. Use eight grocery store plastic bags, stuffed to make two bags four layers thick. You could use a school knapsack or a backpack.

• 3 gallons of water per person, for three days. Carry the water in three 1-gallon plastic jugs. These weigh 25 pounds, and a kid’s little red wagon or suitcase with wheels could haul them. For two people, that’s 6 gallons or 50 pounds of drinkable water.

Christ Jesus the Savior

Jesus died between heaven and earth.

His feet not reaching to the ground,

The Earth is not worthy of his walking

But no other Savior could be found.

Jesus the Christ was destined

For Heaven at His birth.

As He died, He hang suspended

Between Heaven and the earth.

Heaven claims Him as the Savior,

Earth rejects Him one more time.

Heaven’s doors wing wide open

Remaking Heaven so sublime.

If God should show us Christ is worthy,

Would we surely ask Him in?

Or still claim our independence

Freely choosing a life of sin?

Jesus is surely God in Person,

He is author of fullest life,

Accept His offer of fullest pardon

Or dwell forever in joyless strife.

Remember to love while keeping Christianity

Remember to love while keeping Christianity

Today, God’s true New Testament Church finds herself in a time that most thought would never come in America.

The recent ruling of the Supreme Court of the United States has been thoroughly written and spoken about by people of every sector since the day of the ruling.

The difference of thought is caused by the fact that most Christians hold to a Biblical worldview and the contrasting side of this issue holds to either a Theism, Naturalism, Secular Humanism or a Postmodern worldview.

Canton Lions Club’s vision screening was deemed a success.  Twenty-seven children were screened for vision problems, and three were found to need further help from an ophthalmologist.

The Lions who attended and administered the tests said they were grateful that most of the children tested in the normal range, but pleased that those who needed other care were detected. “It is worth all the time and effort that goes into these screenings if one child’s vision is improved,” said Jimmy Strickland, Immediate Past District Governor of Lions.

Same-sex marriage – question of law

By Dan Flynn

In looking back over my service as state representative in House District 2, I have never had more contacts, questions, expressed concerns or outright rage concerning questions regarding the recent Supreme Court decision legalizing same sex marriage.

My staff and I have had many of the same questions and, like you, we want answers.

You may recall in the regular session of the 79th Texas Legislature we approved a Resolution defining Marriage in Texas as being one of one woman and one man.

I was a co-author of that Legislation.
