October Fun

October is a beautiful time

The trees just glisten, glitter and shine.

One night may bring a chilling breeze

The next a heat wave, instead of a freeze.

The stores are filled with masks and such

With fairies, ghosts and tricks by the bunch.

The children dress and just can’t wait

From house to house, a steady gait.

“Trick or Treat” they yell in fun

Get their treat, then on they run!

With bags of treats, tired and home bound

They rush on in and settle down.

The children know this is just fun

The ghost and goblin time is done.

Just say your prayers and jump in bed

Thanking God for blessings and the fun you’ve had.

Thirty Pieces of Silver

Thirty pieces of silver

How much are they really worth?

They were given to betray the Savior

A man’s greatest mistake on earth.

He received them thinking he was wealth

Filling his life with strife

God’s Spirit showed him his action

He then took his own life.

He returned the silver to giver

Casting it down on the floor

The givers guilty conscience

Were ashamed to ask for more.

The betrayal took Jesus to prison

In chains some slapped his face

They nailed Him on Calvary Cross

Guilt on the human race.

They thrust a sword in his side

Both blood and water came out

This blood has power over all sin

Praise God “Hallelujah” we shout.

Are Your Employees Fiscally Fit?

Wellness programs aren’t what they used to be. Many companies provide wellness programs tied to physical fitness, but an increasing number are recognizing that wellness in the workplace also includes fiscal fitness and have expanded their wellness models to include programs which help their employees get their finances in shape as well.

Regardless of their income level, many families would admit they live paycheck to paycheck. According to a 2014 American Psychology Association survey, seven (7) out of ten (10) American workers admit that financial stress is their most common cause of stress. And employees who bring their money worries to the office often cost their employers, as they tend to be less engaged and less productive, spending an average of 20 hours per month worrying and dealing with personal financial issues.

Great reasons to join your Canton Texas Chamber of Commerce

Recently the Canton Texas Chamber of Commerce board of directors and Ambassadors began canvassing the area for new members as part of our 2015 membership drive.

Most of our conversations with non-members have been focused on what the chamber will bring to the table in exchange for their membership. As we build out our annual program of work for the chamber, our primary focus is helping our businesses succeed. We are focused on ways to help them reach new customers, connecting them to the community and providing much needed training to help them succeed and so much more including:

Customer Referrals

The Chamber receives hundreds of calls every year from people looking for local businesses, goods and services. We ONLY refer these calls to our members and it wouldn’t take many referrals to your business to offset your investment in joining the Chamber.

Please, no excuses -- get your flu vaccine this fall

It’s that time of year when people come up with all sorts of excuses for not getting a flu shot. Often, though, the excuses catch up with them. So, for the benefit of the naysayers, let’s do a reality check and clear up some mistaken notions.

“Why worry? It’s just the flu.”

Every year, almost 300,000 Americans land in the hospital as a result of the flu and its complications, and more than 20,000 die from flu-related illnesses. Older adults should be especially wary. They will account for 60 percent of the hospital stays and 90 percent of the deaths.

Joy

A joyful heart is a gift from God

To all those who believe

We read His word to find the truth

His blessing to receive

A joyful heart we see each day

Old Satan cannot bother

He can tempt he has no power

Our safety is in the Father

All joy in heart is from Jesus

Who suffered on that old cross

He paid the price for all our sins

That we don’t suffer loss

We show joy from our heart daily

As a result of what he has done

We love Him and trust Him and believe Him

As the battle of life is on
