Services for Jarvis Eugene (PeeWee) Pickens, 63, of Canton are scheduled for 1 P.M. Saturday, May 20, 2017, at the New Hope Baptist Church in Canton. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery in Canton.

Mr. Pickens passed away Friday, May 12, 2017, in Tyler.

He was born Jan. 6, 1954, in Canton to Jarvis Lee and Nettie LaVesta Potts Pickens.

Services for Williard Neille McWilliams, 87, of Canton, were held Saturday, May 6, 2017, at Eubank Funeral Home with Bro. Steve Glosup officiating.
Interment followed at Cool Springs Cemetery. Mr. McWilliams passed away April 28, 2017, in Canton.

He was born August 18, 1929, in Martins Mill to Irby McWilliams and Ione Simmons. He grew up in Van Zandt County and attended school at Lonestar and Canton. He married Dorothy Marie Huddle May 12, 1950, and they spent the last 66 years together. He had a passion for farming, gardening and raising cattle. He served as a Deacon in the Baptist Church since the age of 21 and taught Sunday school for several years.

He is preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Dorothy.

Memorial services for Kenneth (Keny) Wayne Hughes, 57, Canton, were held Saturday, May 6, 2017, at Eubank Funeral Home.  He left this earth for his heavenly home, Saturday, April 29, 2017.

He was born Aug. 21, 1959, in Greenville to Bobby D. Hughes and Gloria Jean Boyd. He grew up in Charleston and was a member of East Delta Baptist Church. He attended Cooper School where he met and later married his high school sweetheart Cheryl Abston Hughes Jan. 15, 1977, at First Baptist Church in Cooper. Always true sweethearts, their marriage lasted 40 years, 3 months, and 14 days. They lived in Charleston, Cooper and Wills Point before settling on their farm outside of Canton. Their daughter Heather Rae was born July 6, 1984.

Funeral services for Alicia Smith, 90, were held Wednesday, May 3, 2017, at St. Therese Catholic Church in Canton with Father Selvaraj Sinnappan officiating under the direction of Eubank Funeral Home. Interment followed in Haven of Memories. Mrs. Smith passed away April 29, 2017, at her home in Canton.

She was born August 18, 1926, in Laredo to Alfonzo and Petra Rodrigues Ortiz. She was a member of St. Therese Catholic Church in Canton. She was a registered nurse for many years. She enjoyed painting, reading, gardening and loving her family.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles Smith; and five siblings.

 Sophia Anna Schofield, 81, of Wills Point, passed away Friday, April 21, 2017, in Canton from complications of Alzheimer’s.

She was born June 26, 1935, in Moorestown, N.J. to Samuel A. and Sophia Elizabeth Link Mercer.

She married Albert Schofield on Aug. 27, 1955. They lived in Medford, N.J. for many years before moving to Wills Point in October 1999. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Samuel Mercer Jr.

Survivors include her husband, Albert Schofield of Wills Point; son and his wife, Kenneth and Tina Schofield of Canton; daughter, Patti Schofield of Naples, Fla.; grandchildren, Josh East, Samantha Villegas, Dylan Schofield, Jenny Bird and William Gilmore; three great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Joan Torres of Naples, Fla.

Services for Clifford Henry Gibbs, 77, Canton, were held Saturday, April 15, 2017, at Eubank Funeral Home in Canton with the Rev. Jason Pointer officiating.

He passed away April 9, 2017, in Tyler. Interment followed at Haven of Memories.

He was born June 17, 1939, in Van Zandt County to Ernest Earl Gibbs and Tillie Mae Tidwell.

He grew up in Van Zandt and Dallas Counties. He graduated from W.W. Samuels High School in Dallas. While in school, he met Monna Rae Graham and they were married Sept. 10, 1960. They lived in Dallas before moving to Missouri in 1970. He worked for Ford Motor Company as a line foreman for 30 years before retiring and moving to Canton. He enjoyed being outdoors, hunting, fishing and playing golf in his spare time.
