Services for Cheryl Annette Tuttle Hicks, 42, of Grand Saline, were held Friday, March 18, 2016, at Main Street Baptist Church under the direction of Bartley Funeral Home. 

Interment was in Oakland Cemetery.
Mrs. Hicks died Saturday, March 12, 2016, in Orlando, Fla.

She was born Oct. 14, 1973, in Tyler.

Virginia Everitt Norris, of Canton, died March 6, 2016.  

Mrs. Norris was born Feb. 26, 1921, in Cheneyville, La. to the late Alzine and James Benjamin Everitt.

 She graduated from Arlington High School in 1938.  After graduation, she worked for the Casa Manana Theater in Fort Worth as a showgirl during the 1939 show season.   

She graduated from North Texas Agricultural College in Arlington in 1940, with an associate’s degree in science. 

She married Paul D. Norris Feb. 15, 1941.  She accompanied him to numerous locations throughout the United States while he worked for the U.S. Army Air Corp and later with the U.S. Corp of Engineers in Galveston.

Morris E. Lewis, a longtime resident of Canton, died March 9, 2016. He was 90 years old and was a Veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S Army Air Corp.

Mr. Lewis was preceded in death by his loving wife, Virginia Carter Lewis and his two sons, Michael E. Lewis and Ronald D. Lewis.

He was a retired Aircraft Electrical Engineering Manager from Collins Radio Corp.

He was a loving, caring husband, father, and family member with a gentle spirit and a warm smile.

He is survived by his sister-in-law, Edna Carter; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He will be forever missed by his family.

Mary Murline Hogue, 96, of Grand Saline, died Saturday, March 5, 2016, at Hospice of East Texas in Tyler.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 9, 2016, at Smyrna Union Church under the direction of Wilson Orwosky Funeral Home.  Bro. Billy Smith officiated.  Interment was in the Smyrna Cemetery. 

She was born in Emory Jan. 12, 1920.

Services for Cleta Mae Shelton, 77, of Canton were held Saturday, March 12, 2016, at the Eubank Funeral Chapel in Canton with Dr. Mark Moore, Bro. Mike Calhoun and Dr. Mike Hackney officiating.  Interment was in the Starr Cemetery. 

Mrs. Shelton died at home Tuesday, March 8, 2016.  She was born Nov. 12, 1938, in Canton to Leroy and Inez Bailey White. 

She was a member of Lakeside Baptist Church in Canton.  She attended the Wentworth School and transferred to Canton in the third grade.  She graduated from Canton High School in 1957. 

Mrs. Shelton retired from the Southwestern Bell Yellow Pages after 40 years of service.  She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother.  She was a great cook and enjoyed cooking for church events. 

She is preceded in death by her parents and son, Bruce Darrell Shelton.

Bobby Eugene Phillips, 80, of Emory, died Wednesday, March 9, 2016, at Carriage House Manor in Sulphur Springs.

Funeral services were held Saturday, March 12, 2016, at the Wilson-Orwosky Funeral Home Chapel. 

Interment followed in IOOF Cemetery in Quinlan.  Bro. Jimmy Jarrett officiated.

Mr. Phillips was born Jan. 5, 1936, in Booneville, Ark.

Margaret Riley Crocker was born Aug. 1, 1927, in Myrtle Springs.

She died March 2, 2016, surrounded by her loving husband, Ralph Harrison Crocker; children, Stephen Leonard Crocker, Paul Riley Crocker, Ralph Harrison Crocker Ill and Amelia Crocker Irsik.

Mrs. Crocker was preceded in death by an infant son, Stephen Harrison Crocker; her parents, Andrew Jackson Riley and Mattie Durell Riley; and a brother, Jack Howell Riley.

She was a loving and proud grandparent of Clinton Andrew Crocker, William Tyler Crocker, Audrey Hannah Crocker, Meredith Elayne Crocker, Riley William Crocker, Zachary Lawrence Irsik, Kathryn Nicole Irsik and Matthew Harrison Irsik.

Graveside services for Loy Don Bass, 77, of Ben Wheeler were held March 8, 2016, at Haven of Memories in Canton.

Mr. Bass died March 1, 2016, in Ben Wheeler.

He was born Feb. 3, 1939, in Fort Worth to Curtis and Lorene McDow Bass.

He grew up in Ben Wheeler and graduated from Van High School before attending East Texas State College in Commerce.

He was very down to earth and enjoyed sports, running and being outdoors. He had a strong love for his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his daughter, Tracy and Kirk Heaton; daughter, Amy and Reyn Cloud; son, Brandon and Meryl Bass; eight grandchildren, Morgan, Tyler, Dylan, Evan, Andrew, Breynlee, Aubrey and Emma.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Curtis Ruben Bass and Lorene McDow Bass; and sisters, Peggy Clack and Betty Chisholm.

Harry Tracy Reaves Jr., 90, of Colfax, died Feb.21, 2016.

He was born March 4, 1925, to Harry Tracy Reaves Sr. and Annie Mae (Bailey) Reaves on the family farm near Colfax.

He attended Mt. Gibson School and graduated from Van High School in 1942.

He served in the U.S Navy during World War II as an aviation electrician's mate 1st Class aboard the aircraft carrier USS Bairoko. During his three-year service, he received the Victory, American Campaign and Asiatic-Pacific Campaign medals.

Afterwards, he attended Southern Methodist University before embarking on a 36-year career with the Cotton Belt and Southern Pacific Railroads based in Pine Bluff, Ark. He served in many leadership positions, retiring in 1983 as electrical and mechanical coordinator for the entire system.
