Harford Harris

1930-2016

Services for Harford “Bozie” Harris 85, of Canton were held Thursday, March 3, 2016, at Eubank Funeral Home with Bro. Steve Glossup officiating.

Mr. Harris died Sunday, Feb. 28, 2016, in Grand Saline.

He was born July 16, 1930, in Commerce to Loarn and Coreen Harris.

He grew up in Oak Cliff and worked as a barber for 60 years. He was a member of Wallace Methodist Church and married to his loving wife for 66 years.

He enjoyed working in his garden and fixing things around the house. He was a devoted family man and will be missed dearly.

Austin Allen

1984-2016

Austin Elizabeth Allen died Feb.24, 2016, in Tyler.

Ms. Allen was born on July 24, 1984, in Shreveport, La. to David Larkin and Marli Louise Hunter Langford. 

She is survived by her parents; daughter, Arica Elizabeth Langford; son, Taylor Allen; an adopted son and daughter and her loving friend, Charles.

Shen left this world free of pain. She loved life and was loved by everyone who met her.  Her daughter, Arica, stated that when the she sees the sun she knows that her mommy is looking down on her.

Adell Thompson

1922-2016

Cleo Adell Thompson, 94, of Amarillo and formerly of Plainview, died March 4, 2016.

Funeral service was held March 7, 2016, at LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Funeral Directors – Coulter Road Chapel, 8310 S. Coulter St., Amarillo.

Burial was at Plainview Memorial Park.

Services were under the direction of LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Funeral Directors.

Mrs. Thompson was born Feb. 27, 1922, near Grand Saline, to Henry Lee Skinner and Oree Whitt Skinner. She attended schools in the Wentworth Community and Grand Saline.

Sher married Tull (Bud) Thompson Jr. on July 22, 1939, in Grand Saline. They were married

61 years. She moved with her husband and sons to Plainview where they farmed until their retirement in 1985. She moved to Amarillo in July 2003.

Virgina Gipson

1939-2016

Services for Virginia Fagg Gipson, 76, of Grand Saline, were held Sunday, Feb. 28, 2016, at Cross Roads Church of Christ, Grand Saline, with Don Cannon officiating under the direction of Bartley Funeral Home.

Burial was in Creagleville Cemetery, Grand Saline.

Mrs. Gipson died Feb. 24, 2016, in Longview.  She was born Oct. 9, 1939, in Grand Saline.

Onie Ruth Pendleton

1942-2016

Services for Onie Ruth Pendleton, 73, of Sherman, were held Friday, Feb. 26, 2016, at Eubank Funeral Home in Canton, with Dr. Freddy Pendleton, the Rev. James Pendleton and Dr. Eddy Johnson officiating.

Graveside services were held at Haven of Memories in Canton.

She died Feb. 21, 2016, in Denison.

She was born Oct. 14, 1942, in Canton to Sidney and Ruthy Stanbery Fry.

She was a member of Central Baptist Church of Gainesville. She liked to read and help out at church. She was a great help to Freddy in the ministry.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Sidney and Ruthy Fry; brothers, Bob and Freddie Wayne Fry; and sister, Kay Haley.

Kenneth Gowin

1935-2016

Funeral services for Robert Kenneth Gowin, 80, of Emory, were held Sunday, Feb. 28, 2016, at Roundflat Pentecostal Church in Fruitvale with Bro. Homer Morgan officiating.

 Interment followed at Smyrna Cemetery near Emory under the direction of Allan Fuller Funeral Home in Wills Point.

Mr. Gowin died Wednesday night, Feb. 24, 2016, in Grand Saline. 

He was born Aug. 31, 1935, in Emory, the son of Ocie Lee Gowin and Tennessee Hall Gowin.  He lived in Emory until he was 6 years old and then his family moved to Dallas. 

On Aug. 3, 1956, he married Willie Ruth Abney in Mesquite and in 1961, they moved to Emory to make their home.  He attended Henderson Junior College and East Texas State University. 

Ronald Gerald Rawlins

1947 - 2016

Ronald Gerald Rawlins, 68, of Terrell, died Sunday, Feb. 14, 2016, in Kaufman.

He was born May 21, 1947, in Terrell to Albert Gerald Rawlins and Imogene Lane.

He grew up in Canton and trained race horses before driving a truck for 30 years.

Mr. Rawlins is survived by his daughter, Donna Jean Rawlins; son, Russell Rawlins and wife, Mariah; grandchildren, Sarah and Rachel Rawlins, Roddy, Krista and Jimmy Wade Lambeth, Hunter Timmons Michael Rawlins; and sisters, Darlene Allen and Jeanene Quan.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Jean and A.D. Allen; son, Scott Allen Rawlins; and sister, Renee Kemp.

Owen Clowers

1924-2016

Services for Owen Leon Clowers, 91, of Grand Saline, were held Saturday, Feb. 20, 2016, at Bartley Funeral Home with Bro. Mark Winskie officiating.

Interment was in Woodside Cemetery.

Mr. Clowers died Feb. 17, 2016, in Tyler.  He was born March 11, 1924, in Mesquite to Roy Houston and Ruth Velma Davidson Clowers. 

He served in the US Army during World War II and lived in Grand Saline for over 50 years.  He built, owned, and operated the Grismill for many years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Janie Ingram and brother, James Clowers.

James Hill

1939-2016

Funeral services for James Earl Hill, 76, of Emory were held Feb. 24, 2016, at the Wilson-Orwosky Funeral Home Chapel in Emory.  Bro. Jerry Jackson, Jr. and Bro. Duane Jackson officiated. 

Interment followed in Emory City Cemetery. 

He was born  July 4, 1939 in Sulphur Springs.

J.V. Copeland

1942-2016

Services for J. V. Copeland, 73, of Grand Saline, were held Monday, Feb. 22, 2016, at Bartley Funeral Home with Bro. Homer Morgan officiating.

Mr. Copeland died Feb. 17, 2016, at his home.  

He was born Aug. 29, 1942, in Fruitvale.
