Mary Etolia Harris passed away May 15, 2015, in a Grand Saline nursing home.  She was born Nov. 8, 1933, in Fruitvale. The family will hold services for her at a later date.  Burial was in Creagleville Cemetery.

Services for Lois Marie Bishop, 80, of Waco, were held May 11, 2015, at Eubank

Funeral Home in Canton with Bro. Harley Gordon and Bro. Reggie Black officiating.

Interment was in Haven of Memories, Canton.

Mrs. Bishop died May 7, 2015, in Canton.

She was born April 3, 1935, in Canton to Robert Henry Carpenter and Lois Louise Dearing.

She was a member of Beacon Hill Baptist Church of Waco where she served as a Sunday school teacher in her adult life among other things such as singing in the choir, church secretary and treasurer. She enjoyed listening to Southern Gospel music.

Her life revolved around family and church. She was a wonderful cook; she enjoyed sewing and watching soap operas. She was married for 60 years and loved her children.

Larry Ray Thomas, of Eustace, passed away on Monday, April 27, 2015. He was born on June 20, 1943, and raised in Canton.

Larry grew up attending the First Baptist Church in Canton, and would later be baptized there. Larry graduated Canton High School in 1961. He married and had four children and continued to live in Canton. 

Larry moved to Mabank with his family in 1980.  Larry attended the First Methodist Church in Mabank. He was a Real Estate Salesman/Broker and worked to develop tracts of land, starting at Westwood Beach off Lake Palestine.

Memorial services for James Lee Pierce, 74, Canton, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, May 30 at Oak Grove Baptist Church, Hwy 198, Canton.

Mr. Pierce passed away on May 13, 2015, in Tyler. He was born Sept. 2, 1940, in Canton to the late Joe Clifton Pierce and Allie Dee Tindel Pierce. He worked for Curtis Mathis.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Ricky Lynn Pierce.

Survivors include his wife, Darlene Pierce; son, Len Pierce and his wife, Nicole; grandson, Casen Pierce; three brothers, Cliff Pierce, Kenneth Pierce and Mike Pierce; and two sisters, Donna Beth Norrells and Linda Kay Woodruff.

Services for James William Golden, 88, of Mesquite, were held Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at Eubank Funeral Home in Canton officiated by the Rev. Bob Elliott under the direction of Eubank Funeral Home. Interment was in Myrtle Springs Cemetery.

Mr. Golden passed away Thursday, May 14, 2015, in Dallas.

James was born on March 4, 1927, to Earl W. and Viola Golden. He grew up in Myrtle Springs where he attended school. James joined the Army and served during World War II where he received a Victory Medal. He then returned home and married Geraldean Crane on March 14, 1953. They raised their children in Mesquite before moving to Canton and upon retirement moved to Forney.

Services for Gwen Gillaspie Hunter, 87, of Canton, were held May 16, 2015, at Eubank Funeral Home in Canton. Interment was in Haven of Memories in Canton.

She passed away Tuesday, May 12, 2015 in Longview.

Gwen was born Dec. 18, 1927 to Sigmond and Donnie Mae Cruse Gillaspie in Gray's Prairie.

She attended school in Gray's Prairie and graduated from Mabank High School in 1943 at the age of 16. She and her sister Doris moved to Dallas where she was employed at Mutual of Omaha Insurance. Gwen married Vernon (Dick) Hunter on May 9, 1947, in Dallas and they spent the next 60 years together.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Sigmond and Donnie Mae Gillaspie; husband, Vernon Hunter; and sister, Doris Johnson.

Services for David Ralph Tunnell, 83, of Canton were held Thursday, May 14, 2015 at Eubank Funeral Home in Canton  with Bro. Bill Parr and Bro. Lynn Mullins officiating.  Interment was in Haven of Memories.

He passed away May, 11, 2015, in Canton.  David was born April 18, 1932, in Colfax to Andrew and Janie Tunnell.

David was a member of Little Hope Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. He was an election judge for Canton ISD for 22 years and for the Van Zandt County Democratic Party for over 25 years. David was a master carpenter and then a building contractor for 36 years. He was a devoted husband, dad, grandpa, and great-grandpa.  He always had a smile on his face and a twinkle in his eye.

Interment will follow at Edgefield Cemetery in Edgewood under the direction of Allan Fuller Funeral Home in Wills Point.

He passed away early Wednesday morning, May 13, 2015, at his residence in Edgewood.

Stuart Andrew Heddins, 46, of Golden, passed into the presence of the Lord about 6 a.m. Tuesday, May 5, 2015, at the Heddins home near Fruitvale following a lengthy illness.

Stuart was a son of Charles and Barbara (Daigle) Heddins, born on Sept. 16, 1968 in Rosario, Argentina and grew up in Sulphur, La. He graduated from Sulphur High School in 1987 and married Crystal Trammell on July 11, 1987 at Metropolitan Baptist Church in Sulphur, the church Stuart and his family attended. He enlisted in the Army that year and served three years while stationed at Fort Polk, La. and deploying to Panama for a short time.

Lorene was born Aug. 1, 1914, in Yantis. She passed away May 6, 2015, in Dallas.
