Billy Hawkins, Sr. 1929-2018

Services for Billy James Hawkins Sr, 88, were held May 5, 2018, at Eubank Funeral Home in Canton. Interment was at Haven of Memories Memorial Park in Canton.

He returned to his Heavenly Father on April 30, 2018, after a brief battle with cancer.

Bobbie Crocker 1927-2018

 

 

Services for Bobbie Crocker were held Friday, April 27, 2018, at Hilliard Funeral Home with Rev. David McNary officiating. She was laid to rest at Union Chapel Cemetery.

Mrs. Crocker, a long-time resident of Van met her Lord and Savior face to face Tuesday afternoon. She breathed her last earthly breath and enjoyed her first taste of celestial air on April 24, at approximately 4:45 p.m.

Clarence Lewis 1929-2018

 

Services for Clarence Ray Lewis, 88, of Ben Wheeler, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, May 5, 2018, at the Eubank Funeral Home in Canton with Bro. Ronnie Daniell officiating. Interment will be in Haven of Memories. 

He passed away April 28, 2018 at his home. He was born May 5, 1929 in McKinney to Hester Clay and Leona Brown Lewis.

He was a Baptist by faith. He worked hard his entire life. He began his working career at Hudson Motor Car, then Pontiac Division of GM, and then Claude Hall Wrecking Yard.

Leon Ballow 1935-2018

 

 

Funeral services for Leon Ballow, 82, Murchison, were held Saturday April 28, 2018, at First Baptist Church in Murchison with Rev. Daniel Stone officiating.

Burial followed at Red Hill Cemetery under the direction of Autry’s Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home.

Mr. Ballow passed away Tuesday morning in Athens.

Timothy Allen Campbell, Jr., was ushered home to live with the angels on April 22, 2018, in Dallas. He was born March 6, 2018 in Athens.

Ruth Thomas 1926-2018

 

 

Ruth Whitaker Thomas passed away on April 8, 2018 in Canton. She was born March 27, 1926 in Mt. Lebonan, La. to Ernest and Rosa Whitaker. 

She lived most of her life in Canton where she was a homemaker and raised her two boys, Clyde Jr. and Larry.

She worked in retail sales and later in life worked for a nursing home overseeing the activities. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and spent many of those years in the church choir.

Reese Hunter 1964-2018

 

 

 

A memorial celebration will be held for Nolan Reese Hester Saturday, April 7, 2018 at Galena Full Gospel with Rev. Charlie Musselwhite officiating.

He was born April 28, 1964 in Dallas. He had been a resident of Colfax most of his life, also living in Van.

He owned Framing by Reese and was meticulous when it came to his projects. He was a jack-of-all-trades and there was nothing he couldn't build out of wood. He had an eye for detail and the talent to see it through.

Funeral services for Marie L. Urquhart, 87, of Canton, formerly of Lubbock, were held Saturday, April 7, 2018, at Allan Fuller Funeral Home Chapel in Wills Point. Graveside services were held Monday, April 9, 2018, at Llano Cemetery in Amarillo.
God saw you were getting tired, and a cure was not to be so He put His arms around you and whispered, “Come go with Me.” She passed away Wednesday afternoon, April 4, 2018, at home surrounded by her family.
She was born Sept. 25, 1930, in Kingston, Okla., the daughter of John Floyd Watterson and Sophie Mabel Luttrell Watterson.

Kerri Godwin 1964-2018

 

Kerri Rayburn Godwin was born July 20, 1964 in Italy, to Don R. Godwin and Gladys Williams Godwin. He passed away on April 5, 2018 in Chandler.

He is survived by his parents, his siblings, Jeff Godwin and wife, Cynthia; Kim Hodges and husband, Lonnie; and Donetta Cummings and husband, Casey; nieces and nephews, Ashley Lawrence and husband, Eric; Amanda Pruitt and husband, Seth; Brittany Rosenbohm and husband, Kevin; Matt Hodges and wife, Krissie; Morgan Cummings and wife, Megan; Zack Cummings and wife, Amber; Grace Godwin, Chloe Lookabaugh, and Brian Lookabaugh.

He was a very talented painter and was an accomplished artist. He loved cows and everything to do with farming.

He adored his family and was the best uncle his nieces and nephews could hope to have.

He passed away April 3, 2018, in Grand Saline. He was born Jan. 4, 1940, in Kalamazoo, MI, to James Albert and Mae Celeste Victoria Atkins Harger
