Services for Martha Naomi Kittley Sloan, 83, of Canton, were held Friday, Nov. 30, 2018, at Eubank Funeral Chapel in Canton, with Bro. Steve Glosup officiating.  Interment was in Cana Cemetery in Canton.

She passed away Nov. 26, 2018, in Colorado City. She was born May 28, 1935, in Rule.

She grew up in Rule and graduated from Lamesa High School. She moved to Canton in 1971. Due to health reasons, she had spent the past three years in Colorado City where she was cared for by her oldest daughter, Pam, and her husband, James.

Services for Julie Ann Chaney, 57, Fruitvale, were held Tuesday, Dec.4, 2018, at Bartley Funeral Home with Bro. Randy Fisher and Bro. Ronnie Daniell officiating. Interment was at Starr Cemetery.

She passed away Dec. 1, 2018, at her home in Fruitvale. She was born Nov. 14, 1961, in Grand Saline, to Ray Glenn and Jewell E. Harley Herring.

He was born Aug. 12, 1936. in Houston to Harry William Day Sr. and Reva Ethel Ritch.

Willie Trussell 1924-2018

Services for Willie Terry Trussell, 94, of Grand Saline were held Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2018, at Eubank Funeral Home in Canton with Bro. Randy Bohannan officiating. She passed away Nov. 17, 2018, in Tyler.

She was born Aug. 19, 1924, in Grand Saline to Newton Young Luckett and Gladys Lee Jacobs.

She grew up in Grand Saline and married Barnie Trussell Sr. on Dec. 12, 1942. She was Church of Christ by faith and enjoyed cooking, sewing, and making syrup. Above all other things, she loved to spoil her grandchildren.

​​​​​​​John Sickel 1952-2018

John Sickel, loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away the evening of Nov. 21, 2018, at the age of 66.

He was born on March 1, 1952, at Pax River Naval Air Station in Lexington Park, Md. He spent most of his childhood living at China Lake Naval Air Station, later moving to Richardson after his father retired.

He majored in History at the University of Texas in Austin and later attended Law school at Gonzaga University in Spokane, Wash.

​​​​​​​George Jackson Sr. 1942-2018

George Duane Jackson Sr., 76, of Ben Wheeler, passed away Nov. 19, 2018, in Tyler. He was born July 18, 1942, in Mississippi to D.O. and Wilma Mathis Jackson. 

He grew up in South Dallas. He served in the U.S. Navy for three years.  He retired from Ford Motor Company in 1997 after 33 years of service. He and his wife, Mary, moved to Ben Wheeler in 1991. He loved deer hunting, his farm, working in his yard and cooking.

He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, JoAnn Couch; brother, Buster Jackson; and stepson, Sidney Lee Drinning.

David Lutzinger 1947-2018

David E. "Dave" Lutzinger, of Canton, passed away on Monday afternoon, Oct. 22, 2018, at the age of 71.  He was born in Pittsburgh, Pa. on April 16, 1947 to James and Dorothy Lutzinger. 

Growing up in Florida, he moved to Texas after serving in the United States Air Force. 

Graduating with a degree in Business from the University of Texas at Dallas, he worked as a service manager in various companies for many years in Dallas before moving to Canton for retirement.

​​​​​​​Bill Freeman 1926-2018

Billy M. "Bill" Freeman was born May 22, 1926, in Mabank to Samuel Knox and Lettie Leah Norman Freeman. He went to be with Jesus on Nov. 20, 2018.

He loved his country and proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a member of Clearview Bible Church and was very instrumental in its beginning. 

He was a kind, loving, wise, and friendly man and he never met a stranger. He loved his family and friends, and was, in turn, loved by all who knew him and will be greatly missed.

Patra Austin 1944-2018

 

Patra Gail Ballow Austin, 74, of Plano, passed away Nov. 15, 2018, in Plano.  She was born July 3, 1944, in Canton to John W. and Lina Mae Tankersley Ballow.

She was a member of Mabank Church of Christ.  She grew up in East Texas and lived in Kaufman for 45 years. 

For many years, she worked at Cooley's Super Market and then at Nell's Restaurant in Kaufman.  She enjoyed shopping, going to garage sales and was an amazing cook.

Louise Gober 1928-2018

Effie Louise McMinn Gober, 90, of Canton, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Nov. 14, 2018. She was born on May 12, 1928, to Oyer Lafayette McMinn and Mary Jane Pierot McMinn in Dallas.

She grew up in Dallas and graduated from Sunset High School in 1945. She later attended Arlington State College and studied art.

She became a Christian at the age of 12 and God has always been her guiding light. In September of 1951, Louise married Clinton Morrison Gober Jr.
